This job is not paddling specific, but is in a great location for paddling and we have employed a lot of paddlers over the years. So, I thought I'd post it here in case any of you might know someone who might be interested.
Nature’s Classroom Atop Lookout Mountain, an ACA and AEE accredited experiential education center in Mentone Alabama, is accepting applications for Teachers and Intern Teachers for the Spring 2016 Semester (Feb-May). Teachers (4-year college degree required) and Intern Teachers (must be 21 or older) lead educational hikes, teach environmental ethics, and facilitate hands-on classes in all academic areas. Activities focus on cooperation, communication, and team-building using group initiatives and the low challenge course. Other activities include: archery, canoeing, night hikes, climbing tower, and various high challenge course elements. Staff contracts are seasonal (spring/fall) and staff generally works 4-5 day weeks (very little weekend work required). In addition to salary, staff receives room and board, including: meals, private bedroom, paid training, and use of phone, internet, and washer/dryer. Other benefits include a location within a short distance of great caving, climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and whitewater paddling. Intern Teachers must also be at least 21 years old.
Teachers must be at least 21 years old and have completed a 4-year college degree (because we teach many academic areas, no specific degree is required). Teaching certification is not required, but our salary scale does recognize Certified Teachers and applicants with advanced degrees.
